OPERATION SINDOOR

    OPERATION SINDOOR

Operation Sindoor is the codename for a military air operation carried out by the Indian armed forces in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) on the night of 6–7 May. India said it was aimed at targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Pakistan said the Indian attacks hit civilian areas and killed 26 Pakistanis, including a child. Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif called the attacks an "act of war" and vowed to retaliate. Pakistan retaliated against the Indian attacks. India said Pakistani artillery killed three Indian civilians.

The Indian attacks were in retaliation for the Pahalgam massacre that occurred on 22 April 2025 in Indian administered Jammu and Kashmir. The Pahalgam attack was claimed by a terrorist group called the "Resistance Front". Most of those killed were Hindu tourists. 26 were Indian nationals and one non-resident. India accused Pakistan of supporting the attackers, although Pakistan denied the allegations. The attack led to the 2025 India–Pakistan standoff, which is part of the wider Kashmir conflict.

India's humanitarian and heroic message is hidden in "Operation Sindoor."

This mission has been prepared to take revenge after the Pahalgam massacre in India. It has been named "Operation Sindoor". This is not just a war between India and Pakistan, but the name of this mission is also going to send a message to the world. Now, the time has come when the death of every innocent person who was shot by terrorists in the Pahalgam terror attack will be avenged. This mission has been prepared to give a befitting reply to that.

The name of this mission is enough to understand why this mission was named "Operation Sindoor". For information, let us tell you that Sindoor is a symbol of marital bliss for married women and this is a reference to the killing of innocent lives in Pahalgam on 22 April 2025, in which many family members were selected based on their religion and were brutally murdered by those cruel terrorists, the number of which has been high.

Women like Himanshi Narwal from Haryana, Eshnya Dwivedi from Uttar Pradesh, Sheetal Kalthia and Kajal Parmar from Gujarat, Sohini Adhikari from Kolkata, Pragati Jagdale from Maharashtra, Shila Chandan from Kerala, Jennifer Nathaniel and Jaya Mishra from Madhya Pradesh, whose husbands were killed by terrorists in the Pahalgam terror attack.

Haryana's Himanshi Narwal, married for just six days and kneeling beside the body of her husband, naval officer Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, became the face of this tragedy. Days later, Himanshi was reunited with her husband with the sindoor that shines on the foreheads of married women. If it was this barbarity that shook the nation, the young faces of women strengthened India's resolve.

According to top sources, our country's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, keeping in mind the widows, mothers, and sisters of those killed in the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack, has codenamed the retaliatory military action as "Operation Sindoor".

The specialty of this mission, named "Operation Sindoor" is that it is attacking those who killed the victims and their family members in the Pahlgam attack to take revenge, which is a matter of pride for every Indian. A dash of Sindoor on the forehead of a bride signifies the presence of her husband in her life. It has traditional cultural significance in the lives of married Hindu women. In some traditions, Sindoor is associated with Goddess Parvati, a symbol of married life.

"Sindoor" is the symbol of a warrior

In India, the warriors who went out to face the plundering enemy wore a tika or tilak on their forehead, usually of vermilion. Rajput and Maratha warriors are depicted with a red shining mark on their foreheads, as they kept their heads high while fighting the enemy for their land and religion. This also became a war of religion, as it shed the blood of innocent civilians.

Pakistan and Pakistan-backed terrorists have left no stone unturned to harm Indian citizens; they always attack in a way that causes panic. But India has taken full care to limit its counter attacks to terrorist hideouts and camps. This was stated very clearly in the Indian statement issued on Wednesday.

Preparing for the maneuvers

India has taken this action when the Indian Air Force is already going to conduct a large-scale war exercise on the Pakistan border today to teach a lesson to the culprits and conspirators of Pahalgam. This will include frontline fighter aircraft like Rafale, Mirage-2000, Tejas, and Sukhoi-30. Also, in 259 sensitive districts of the country, including metropolitan cities of India, a mitigation drill will be conducted to test civil security.

It is said that the AWACS air defense system will also be there in this war exercise. During this, the Air Force will test its ability to destroy enemy targets on the ground and in the air. The central government has issued a Notice to Airmen for the war exercise on the border. This notice is issued to be cautious about flying in a particular area.

Indian Attacks

On 6 May 2025, the Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor, a series of twenty-four targeted attacks on six locations in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and Pakistan's Punjab province, across both the Line of Control and the International Border.

A Pakistani general said the attacks were carried out by Indian aircraft without entering Pakistani airspace. The attacks caused power outages in Muzaffarabad. Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Pakistan's Punjab province, urged residents to stay indoors. Locals in Srinagar reported heavy fighter jet activity overhead.

According to Jaish-e-Mohammed, ten family members and four close aides of the leader Masood Azhar were killed in an Indian airstrike in Bahawalpur.

Pakistani Attacks

On 7 May 2025, Pakistan launched missile attacks on Jammu and Kashmir in response to Indian missile attacks on Pakistan. According to Pakistan's state media, the Pakistan Air Force shot down two or five Indian aircraft. State media also claimed that an Indian brigade headquarters was destroyed in retaliation.

Indian media claimed that a Pakistani JF-17 was shot down while trying to enter Indian airspace. The aircraft crashed into Pampore, Pulwama, India, but was killed in the crash. India's Press Council of India said that no jets were shot down, but the photos showing MiG-29s were reportedly a year old. They also claimed that the Indian brigade headquarters and the Srinagar airbase were attacked.

According to Pakistani security forces, five Indian Air Force fighter jets and a drone were shot down by the army. The Guardian reported that one of the planes crashed inside Jammu and Kashmir, near Srinagar.

Pakistani security forces said at least 26 civilians, including two children, were killed and at least 35 others injured in the Indian attacks. According to Indian officials, India said three civilians were killed in artillery fire inside Jammu and Kashmir.

After That Result

The airspace in Karachi and Lahore was closed for 48 hours and all flights were cancelled. Schools and colleges in Punjab were closed, while examinations were postponed. SpiceJet, IndiGo, and Air India suspended flights in the region, while Air France and Lufthansa avoided Pakistani airspace. Three international flights to Dhaka operated by Turkish Airlines, Jazeera Airways, and Kuwait Airways were diverted to Muscat, Dubai, and Kuwait. Malaysia Airlines and Batik Air suspended and rerouted flights to cities in both countries.
