 Maharana Pratap:  A valiant warrior

These things related to Maharana Pratap will give you goosebumps

On hearing the name of Maharana Pratap, a different feeling of bravery and pride arises in the mind. Hundreds of salutes to the brave emperor, mighty, national pride, brave, courageous patriot who saved the land of Mewar from the terror of the Mughals.

Maharana Pratap Singh Sisodia was born on 9 May 1540 Vikram Samvat 1597, corresponding to Jyeshtha month's Shukla Paksha Tritiya Sunday in Kumbhalgarh, Rajasthan. He was the eldest son of Udai Singh II, the 13th ruler of Mewar, and Maharani Jayavantabai. Currently, according to the Hindu calendar, Maharana Pratap Jayanti is celebrated with great enthusiasm on the Jyeshtha month's Shukla Paksha Tritiya. In 2025, we will get this good fortune on 29 May. His name is immortal in history for his valor, sacrifice, courage, and determination. He refused to be under the Mughal Akbar and struggled for years; ultimately, Akbar failed to subjugate Maharana Pratap. Maharana Pratap's policies became an inspiration for everyone from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to Bengal's freedom fighters against the British.

Maharana Pratap's childhood was spent with the Bhil community, and he learned the art of war from the Bhils. Bhils used to call their sons Kika, so the Bhils started calling Maharana Pratap by the name Kika. Rana Uday Singh's second queen, Dheerbai, known as Rani Bhatiani in the state's history, wanted to make her son Kunwar Jagmal the successor of Mewar. When Pratap became the successor, Jagmal protested at Akbar's camp. Maharana Pratap's coronation took place on 28 February 1572 in Gogunda. After this, Maharana Pratap's second coronation took place in Kumbhalgarh in 1572 with full rituals. Blessed is the land of bravery of Mewar, where the brave and strong-hearted Pratap was born. Who made his name immortal in history? He sacrificed his life for religion and freedom.

Battle of Haldighati

This war was fought on 18 June 1576 AD by Maharana Pratap, who led the army of Mewar. The leader of the Bhil army was Thakur Rana Punja Solanki of Panarav. The only Muslim leader who fought on Maharana's side in this war was Hakin Khan Suri.

The site of the battle was a narrow pass at Haldighati near Gogunda in Rajasthan. Maharana Pratap led an army of archers. The Mughals were led by Raja Mansingh of Amer, who had an army of about 5000-10000 men. After a fierce battle that lasted for more than three hours, Maharana Pratap found himself wounded and when some of his men gave him time, he managed to escape through the hills. The name of Maharana Pratap's horse was Chetak, who sacrificed his life after saving Rana's life. Maharana Pratap used a strategy in the Battle of Haldighati in which he made his horse Chetak wear an elephant's head so that the enemy army would think that he was coming to fight with an elephant, due to this strategy the Mughal army got scared even before the battle. The Mughals did not attack Chetak considering it a small elephant, due to which Maharana Pratap easily entered the Mughal army. The fake trunk of the elephant gave Chetak a frightening look and the rider riding on it got a chance to attack the enemy directly. This strategy helped Maharana Pratap a lot in achieving victory.

This war lasted only for one day, but 17000 people were killed in it. Akbar made every possible effort to conquer Mewar, but he failed every time. Shakti Singh saved Maharana's life by sacrificing his horse. But his condition was getting worse day by day. Bhamashah also became immortal by giving a grant of 12 years to 24000 soldiers.

Historians believe that no one won this war. But if looked at carefully, Maharana Pratap Singh was victorious in this war. A few Rajputs were the first to stand in front of Akbar's huge army. This war lasted for a whole day, and the Rajputs drove away the Mughals. The biggest thing is that this war was fought face to face. Maharana Pratap's army was forced to kneel and the Mughal army started running away.

Struggled Throughout His Life

Maharana Pratap, giving proof of his bravery, gradually established his authority over many parts of his kingdom. Mughal ruler Akbar tried very hard to establish his authority over Mewar but all his efforts went in vain. Maharana Pratap never accepted Akbar's supremacy and kept fighting for freedom against the Mughals throughout his life. For this, he kept roaming in the forests with his family. The story of his bravery and valor is still remembered with great pride. Millions of salutes to this brave warrior of India. With this our blog ends.
